Kostiuchok Petro Leontiyovych

Born on 9 November 1977 in the village of Godovychi, Manevychi district, Volyn region.
He studied at Romanivka Secondary School in Dzerzhynsk district, Zhytomyr region, and graduated in 1995. In 1995-2000, he studied at the History Department of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University, where he received a master’s degree with honours. In 2002, he entered the postgraduate course at the Precarpathian University (speciality ‘Ethnology’). He defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences on ‘Ethnopolitical and National Cultural Processes in the Hutsul Region in the Context of the Formation of the Ukrainian Nation (late nineteenth century – 1939)’ in 2006 (supervisor – Professor M. Kuhutyak).
Professional activity: from 2000 to 2002, he worked as a deputy director for educational work at Medyn secondary school in Halych district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He also worked as an assistant at the Department of Political Science (2002-2005), the Department of World History (2005-2006), and the Department of Ethnology and Archeology (2006-2008). Since 2008, he has been an associate professor at the Department of Ethnology and Archeology. He pays special attention to the study of the problems of Ukrainian national identity, ethno-political history of the Carpathian region, and ethnopsychology of the Carpathian ethnographic groups. He is the author of about 60 articles, research papers and reports. He actively cooperates with foreign academic institutions in the study of ethnology, has repeatedly completed internships abroad, including at the University of Warsaw (2008), the Institute of Ethnology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (2009) and the German Historical Institute in Warsaw, and has received grants from foreign countries.
